Sure - agree to pay everyone less at once so society has to conform and lower prices. Everything goes down accordingly

Printing more money causes inflation, so why don't we start burning it?

- stop printing money
- stop spending money if you control the supply
- raise interest rates if you're lending the money you print to banks
- force the rest of the world to buy and use the money at gunpoint, bombing countries that don't fall in line and sanctioning the ones that have or might have nukes

My economics professor was just going on today about how mild inflation is a good thing, the fed tries to keep inflation at roughly 2% and how deflation is a bad thing...

Mexico and Zimbabwe (and a few others) did that, or attempted to anyway, by just chopping a few zeroes off the end of the currency.

Deflation punishes short-term spending and certain types of lending.

Inflation rewards the government, banks, core bureaucrats, and other cronies.

I believe most economists follow the Keynesian theories and how government spending drives economic activity and the desirability of stability.

Deflation is a bad thing because it ultimately leads to lower wages through constrained economic activity (or falls), etc...
