I would not refer to BvS as an adaptation of TDKR.

Also TDKR wouldn't work as a live-action movie without a lot of changes to the setting to help suspend disbelief.

They actually ruined 3 story lines from the comics.

I was beyond pissed they decided to do the death of superman in the 2nd movie right before justice league. BvS essentially destroyed the foundation of the DCEU.

Eh, he didn't really adapt Dark Knight Returns so much as lifted a handful of set pieces and quotable lines from it. Still a damn odd choice of source material with which to kick off one's cinematic universe, especially when merged with Death of Superman.

Absolutely. Both stories were penned as "end of an era" works, although from different perspectives.

The Ultimate Edition is the way BvS was supposed to be watched. I don't like BvS much, but the theatrical release is a result of studio meddling.

Yeah, overall I'm more of a Marvel fan but I do like those two characters and those are both stories that could be neat if adapted properly. TDKR obviously would either be a long way off probably or just kind of it's own separate thing like Joker, but I think if they'd made a handful of successful films with Superman, some solo films and team ups/Justice League, THEN go the Death of Superman route it'd have been so much more meaningful.
