4used to refer to a single person whose gender identity is nonbinary (see NONBINARY sense c)
I knew certain things about the person I was interviewing. They had adopted their gender-neutral name a few years ago, when they began to consciously identify as nonbinary that is, neither male nor female. They were in their late 20s, working as an event planner, applying to graduate school.

I've been a HUGE pet peeve of my for most of my 35 years of living. Take Naruto for example, since I'm watching it. They always talk about men and he when talking about the ninjas, knowing fully well that there are a lot of great female ninjas out there. It's easier to always just use they or them in situations like this

But I hate Him/Her even more. Their! Just fucking say their!!! Unless you're talking about a specific person, they have no gender
