you can overclock the cpu depending on the system (some are natively underclocked), as just one example.

I don't mod my nintendo consoles, but that's one thing you could use it for. I wouldn't be surprised if you could play your GB games with modified palette like with the Super Gameboy/Gameboy Color/GBA functions that they left out of VC titles for some reason. --- I wanted ORANGE. I transferred my save data from my physical carts over to to a flash cart just to be able to load all my games from one cartridge without having to carry them all around in a case. (The save data transfer mechanism's really cool. You can get the DS to broadcast the data from the cartridge wirelessly to your computer, and if even works in reverse to overwrite the save data on the cartridge.)
