Especially this. The Quest came out this year and is as expensive as a console, and is wireless. And is actually really great. It's still less than a year old, so it's library isn't huge yet but there are a lot of really fun games, on top of other cool shit to do.

I'm probably gonna want it for either augmented reality, or something similar like relaxing somewhere completely different like a beach (doesn't have to be a beach, just an example). And it being cheap enough for me to justify buying it.

Its gonna be huge once the price lowers, tracking becomes better and set up becomes less of a hassle.

No shit, but it illustrates that VR 20 years ago isnt comparable to what modern VR is capable of. It was never feasible for the mass market back then but now the technology is VERY close. Just like any new technology, give it a few years for the price to become attractive to the mass market.

Any reasons why you don't think so? Tracking is already one to one. We have 360 tracking and room scale. Comfort and set up are already being addressed with wireless VR headsets and inside out tracking.

What VR needs to be great is to be wireless, not need such a large area to use it in, have no screen door effect (so like 8k or 16k screens minimum), be 120fps or more, and have far better graphics. Micro-LED (or at least OLED) is also necessary. This wont be achievable for at least another 7 years or more

They show people standing up to play it but that's pointless cause of the wires. Just sit down so you don't have to worry about the wires or have the weight of them added. I never played standing up. And I always use Moves as well.

The idea of playing Ace Combat 7 in VR is pretty interesting, although yeah VR certainly isn't anywhere near ideal or perfect yet.

What VR needs is:

1. Stop requiring people to work out.
2. Stop requiring people to wear those goofy binoculars.
3. Stop trying to make people believe their hands are open even though they're holding controllers.
4. Stop trying to make people believe they're walking when they're not.
5. Stop blocking out the real world in case you need to check on something.

Basically, VR will appeal to me when the technology advances so much that you're sitting on the sofa holding a controller watching a TV.

It's got more lift than the 3D craze. VR is just a bit cumbersome and a little pricey atm.
