Me: Sir, you can't go into the building without a badge.
Them: Oh, I have a badge, it's just not on me. Me: Sir, your badge has to be on your person in order to enter the building. Them: My badge is just right there (points toward the building). I can just go in and grab it real fast! Me: Sir, I understand that, but regulation states that you must have your badge, or a guest badge, on your person before you can enter the building. I will have to issue you a guest badge until you can retrieve your personnel badge. Them: But... Me: (cuts them off mid sentence) Look, guy. I don't give a shit if you have your badge or not. I didn't make the damned rule and really don't care, but they (points toward HR building) do give a damn, so if you have issues with this rule, go over there and talk to them. Most people are understanding and don't give me any grief. There's always that one asshole who thinks it's my fault that he's running late, and I should just let him in without his badge. I've done that before in the past, and it always came back and bite me in the ass.
HR Manager: So and so got in yesterday without scanning his badge, why is that? Me: Errr, uhmmm... Believe me, it happens. People will skirt the rules if you let them.
