The Supreme Court is allowing nationwide enforcement of a new Trump administration rule that prevents most Central American immigrants from seeking asylum in the United States.
...
The policy is meant to deny asylum to anyone who passes through another country on the way to the U.S. without seeking protection there.

Most people crossing the southern border are Central Americans fleeing violence and poverty. They are largely ineligible under the new rule, as are asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border.

While I don't think we should close the borders. Only people who hate poor people want open the borders. Wages are stagnant as is. Do you want them to spiral down to nothing?

It's too bad there's no sort of... middle ground between "let everyone in" and "let only people in who are going to die if they get forced to return to their country"

Tourist areas of Mexico are nice. Parts of Mexico are bad and those get the most airtime but it's kind of silly to suggest the whole country is like that. Like suggesting America is a horrible place because of the slums of Detroit and Chicago.

The country in general is, even at it's worst, a much safer place than Venezuela right now.

Same thing with India. All those horrible gang rape stories basically happen in remote rural areas. The major cities and tourist hubs are really nice places. There's actually a lot of Americans that work there to help out international companies with 24 hour live-person coverage. The average woman in India does not have to worry about being raped.

They couldn't get a room at the Hyatt, so they settled for the Sheraton down the street. Annoying I know...Oh but the street tacos were so amazing and they got a hand woven blanket to bring back.

They are leaving dangerous countries and finally get to safe haven Mexico and it's still not good enough for them? Why? WHYYYYYYYY?

Our welfare and medical programs usually. If you look at many other countries being swarmed by immigrants they usually have very generous welfare programs coincidentally.

If it was just safety and a job they wanted there's plenty of places in Mexico they could obtain that.

Because I live in the U.S bud, my friends are here. My life is here. There are visas and paperwork required to live in a foreign country. Wtf kinda question is this?
