I like how Tom Segura filmed his last special in New Orleans, after months of backlash and hate from the state due to his "build a wall around Louisiana" bit in his previous special.

People are so fucking soft and I say this as someone that leans left.

Comedy literally doesn't care about how anyone feels. They make fun of literally everything and it's best for soft people to just not watch it and move on if they can't take a joke.

Both Bill and Dave lean left. If you can accept that, then accept the fact that their jokes are just jokes and move on. I'm all for being PC when the situation warrants it like when it comes from a joke politician like Trump but comedy is different. Stereotypes are hilarious even when they aren't true.

You were making some very sensible points until you called Trump a "joke politician". I think he's a great president who leads our country with dignity and honor.

Also, Chappelle has the greater spotlight because he became a legit star back when TV mattered and he's not only black famous, but also crossover famous. Fame + being the current GOAT even amongst many of his standup peers. When you have that spotlight and you don't champion mainstream causes (Ie. leftist lunacy), there's guaranteed to be a backlash. God forbid a black guy go against sacred causes. Hypocrisy at work. Is he free, or is he going to be on the short leash forever?

Burr is easily a top 3 or 5 standup alive. But you need to be a fan of the comedy world to know who Burr is. Chappelle, Peters, Seinfeld, Schumer, Rock, Hart etc are crossover famous. This isn't to discount Chappelle. He is truly a top 3 GOAT alive.

One thing to keep in mind, the guy doesn't do meet and greets, so don't stick around after the show. Learned that one the hard way

The "THE LEFT IS GOING TO BE SO OUTRAGED OVER THIS THING. LOOK AT THESE RANDOM ARTICLES FROM OUTLETS TRYING TO GET YOU TO CLICK THEIR LINK AND RANDOMS ON TWITTER!" takes after all these types of thing is incredibly old at this point.

Those types are just bitching about people bitching to bitch at this point. And they aren't even self aware to realize they are what they complain about. Some people won't like things you do and will write in hyperbole about it online, get the fuck over it and move on already.

The message that you should pay attention to with the new Chappelle special is:

You can be a top dog who has no horse in the race. Countless celebrities make a living being apolitical or close to it. BUT if you do make a stance and it's anti-left, God help you. Now imagine you're a minority who is beloved by the mainstream. It's even worse in that case.

The late great Patrice O'Neal made this point years ago on the Opie & Anthony show on Sirius XM. It's a different ballgame when you're black and you go from being black famous to white famous. Once you start making "white dollars", you're expected to act as their spokesman. You're expected to promote their values. White liberal elitist values.

Problem is, Dave is too much of an independent thinker. And he has F*** You money. And God bless him for that.

Finished Burr's new special. It's not his best imo and a lot of jokes he's been telling for years now (like the my relationship is my wife working on my problems joke) but overall it was solid.

Comedians need to stop opening with the cancel culture shit though. This is probably the 5th stand up I've seen this year with basically the same opening joke.

There's a weird intersection of normal people who listen and those who are comedy podcast fanatics. A lot of the latter are fringe weirdos. A whole lot of "derp he's not funny anymore since he got married" and they all tend to be older single men who think Bill is too left.

They did but did you two not hear the pin drop silence right after he said that? Even Burr did an awkward laugh immediately to acknowledge the ridiculousness of it and then they joined in.

Should have put a shocked face instead of ellipses though. Would have better explained their reaction as it wasn't them being offended just caught off guard.

Yeah I loved it. That's what I love so much about Bill. He's not attacking the "far-left" or "SJWism" just to do it. He's actually pointing out the hypocrisy of certain aspects, not the actual concept itself.

And then attacking his own self (the racism talk with Nia, the emotion handling with the dog, etc...) I still think it was his best special thus far.

Basically the same complaints I had with Chappelle. That said, this one might grow on me. It's hard to do a quality hour and I admire how hard he works. Just felt this one was a bit off. Maybe he's past his peak.
