I would say that since we could eat any animal we want, it's the natural conclusion. A tiger might be able to eat you if you fuck up, but if we wanted to eat tiger meat exclusively, they'd be fucked.

All apex predators can be killed under the right conditions; that still doesn't mean that they lose their number 1 spot just because they fucked up or were overwhelmed in the fight however many times it happened.

lmao just came to post this. Some villagers beat a tiger to death with sticks. Even primitive humans were at the top of the chain, primitive ranged weapons, laying out traps, ambush techniques etc.

This, and to answer TC's question, no it isn't. Humans are on top of the "food chain", unless there's some animal that normally prays on humans, I can't thinks of one.
