Of course, the culture of America is derived from Europe. But I'm talking about all the modern technology in the world that Europe regularly uses but was invented in America. Also, Europe has to deal with America being treated like the most relevant power in the world, whereas Americans don't have to hear about European politics or pop culture as much. So which do you think is more influential?

these days, europe is getting americanized more so than the opposite, easily. they watch all of our shows and movies and started eating food that was made popular here

historically, overall, it could be the other way around because the culture in the US is an amalgamation of lots of different cultures

American soft power only really emerged after WWI. Europeans have influenced all the roots of America. From fashion, architecture, the languages (English literally came from Great Britain), the original economic model from Great Britain, liberal democracy that came from Europe, and pretty much all the Founding Fathers had European ancestry. Thomas Jefferson borrowed ideas from France; Alexander Hamilton from Great Britain.

Except nothing is more influential than the language of English. We literally are communicating in it right now, and GameFAQs is American.

America is literally an offshoot of England so there's kind of that.

I mean obviously modern tech and pop culture is one thing, but the very foundations of our society, government and language come from the UK and continental Europe

Modern American influence in Europe is nothing compared to the US' entire government and legal system being inspired by Europe
