I've been playing the SNES online on Switch, which is admittedly my first experience with most of these games, and it's jarring that B is treated as the main button in so many of them.

The bottom button on a controller is pretty universally used as jump/ok

Ergonomics. Its easier to have B/Y as the primary action buttons on an SNES controller than A/B.

The bottom button should absolutely be the main/jump button especially with Y being dash. If anything the fault is in calling it B instead of A but I think that button should be the primary regardless

B is jump, Y is dash. That's the preferred way imo. A and X doesnt feel right. And they could have just moved the letters around but fuck it.

Games that had B as run and A as jump were bullshit. You had to turn your hand in an uncomfortable way. Your thumb should be comfortably holding down Y and then press down the bottom part to jump when necessary.
