demo's cool so far, it has some typical Japanese-game things about it that are irksome, but it seems good

hopefully there are more character creation options in the full game, it's bizarre that I can't have stubble

It doesn't feel clunky to play, but it does look off that way, that's one of the Japanese-game things I mean. It pretty much feels exactly like what it is though: anime dark souls

ill give the new demo a shot tho

It's one of those games that one has to expect will bomb commercially and be available in the $10 bargain bin whenever a business is looking to clear back inventory.

Maybe that's the problem. Maybe they mixed 2 things where each side sees the other as just something to put up with. The Anime part makes it have to excel everywhere else even more for me to give a shit. Anyway, I haven't tried the demo so I don't even have an opinion yet.

Good point, Dark Souls really hit its mark with a western audience, after all. I think this is doing good for what it is, though. I usually dismiss anime games on a first glance

The biggest thing I'm not so sure about is that there's no armor to get. You pick an outfit and then your blood... thing that determines your revenant moves will add a look over it, like a chestpiece or a cape, jacket, etc

Character Creator looked deep as shit for people who care.

But holy shit is it hard to pay attention to the story. It's delivered in such a boring way with pointless shit slowing it down even more. Granted Im only like 45 minutes in lol. Definitely didn't start on a high note. The combat seems like it has a lot of potential tho

I beat the demo and am currently in the Depths and I must say that so far it would be more accurate to compare this to Bloodborne than Dark Souls.

In fact I'll go even further to say that Code Vein is what you get if Miyazaki made a God Eater game. I mean the graphic style is unmistakably God Eater in fact if I didn't know what this game was and saw it out of context I would have thought it was God Eater 3.
