I like the prequel dancing tbh. I feel like it makes sense for these super powerful space wizards to fight like that than like an Average Joe with a bat. Anakin vs Obi-Wan in RotS is still the best duel in the series imo.

Overall, I really like the fencing style in the original trilogy, and how Luke's intensity grows with each battle; but, I agree that Anakin vs Obi-Wan is the best fight in the whole series, at least in the live action stuff. Second best fight? Mace Windu vs Darth Sidious, and I'd say that more closely follows the formula from the original series, apart from Sidious's opening move.

Watching Yoda flip around reminds me of when I used to play with my action figures, supremely unrealistic. I honestly wish they would have left Yoda's fighting to the imagination, talking him up to be this masterful fighter but never showing it.

What we got instead was a blur of dated CG that actually hurts the narrative of the story :/

So, I was 11 when The Phantom Menace came out, and like many other children at the time I thought the lightsaber fight in the climax was basically the coolest thing to ever happen. And in retrospect I think (if you ignore some of the more outrageous instances of the fight choreography being badly done, sabers being purposefully swung too high or too low, etc) it still stands up as being pretty good. Even though it's very action-intensive and kinda busy, the feeling of the fight still comes through. There's emotion behind it... although the score does do a LOT of the heavy lifting in that regard.

I was 14 when Attack of the Clones came out and I absolutely hated it. The lightsaber fighting felt very lame to me. But I was so disappointed by the rest of the movie that maybe I was being biased.

When RoTS came out, I was honestly just begging it to be better than AotC. And it was - but the spectacle of the lightsaber fighting still didn't overly impress me. I couldn't even tell you most of what happens in it because it all happens at such a breakneck speed.

I'm of the opinion these days that the originals were better overall (with the exception of the first Obi-Wan/Vader fight), and that the Luke/Vader fight in Empire is probably the best of the whole franchise (sequel movies included).

Not sure which you'd pick on ST.

I liked in TFA how the fighting actually had weight behind it, instead of "wave your shit around like it's a rave" like they did in PT.

And while Anakin Obi is obviously the best in that trilogy, I still get annoyed at the part where they're literally just flourishing around standing face to face for like 4 seconds.

I prefer the prequel style. The original trilogy style isn't realistic and doesn't even make a lot of sense, they swing the things around like they weigh a ton and act like they need to put a ton of force behind every blow even though they're holding a literal death stick that incinerates whatever it touches, meaning you need only the briefest glancing blow to defeat someone. It makes more sense to swing them around like crazy even if it's kind of absurd and pointless they way they do it than it does to treat them like anything resembling swords.

Obi and Qui-gon vs Maul
Luke vs Vader ESB
Rey and Kylo vs the Snoke squad

Ani vs Obi sucks eggs. It's long and visually over indulgent to the point of excessive boredom. Any potential emotion is entirely drowned out and only barely saved by the post fight convo. The fight in 4 feels far more weighted and focused and meaningful, especially given the expansion the lore has received (via the PT), than literally anything in the PT, which is sort of funnily ironic.

Both have their merits. There's a lot of lightsaber combat forms, some rely on brute force, others have grace, while others rely on speed.

Time is a funny thing. There is always too much of it, except when you need it the most. Then there is never enough.
