Because thats realistically whats going to happen if the Dexiters get what they desire sales wise. They arent going to think its a gameplay issue, they'll think its a fanbase issue (well, it is but not the way they think.) I don't have to keep loving it if it's not good. Gen 7 was lackluster, and Gen 8 is looking to be worse. On top of that, I will have to go out and buy a Switch if I even want to play it. I've been playing Pokemon since Red and Blue, but that doesn't mean I'm going to keep playing no matter what direction the franchise takes. Maybe things will change and Gen 8 will be better than it looks. Gacha games are easy moneymakers, true, but I don't think any big developer wants them as their core gaming model. Gamefreak is well aware that the removal of the national pokemon is the biggest reason people are avoiding it. Honestly maybe I'm just getting old, but the magic just wasn't there for the last couple of games. Sun and Moon were alright, but nothing really wowed me. Nothing sucked me in. I remember liking Black and White because it just had a different feel to it. Maybe it was because it was one of gamefreak's first real attempt at story beyond "Catch Pokemon, collect badges, defeat the evil team, become champion". Maybe it was because you only ran into new Pokemon(for the most part?) until post game. Maybe it was it seemed like the game was acknowledging it's fanbase was older. Compare to X and Y. A lot of Flash, but nothing really memorable about the game itself. Team Flare was the worst team by far. Their admins don't even have names. Something even Team Rocket had in the remakes. Even the Aqua and Magma admins, who were basically grunts with slightly stronger Pokemon, became actual characters in OrAs. Their leader was a dude who you pegged as the evil leader before he even said a word, and he was basically a stronger admin. Gym leaders were fairly forgettable, as was the champion. Sun and Moon was... alright. It was a passable game and that's about it. FWIW Duncan, I may not agree about SwSh, but I did like Sun & Moon.
