over other salespeople trying to steal my sales. Basically nothing happens to them other than getting a slap on the wrist and told to back off.

Both people are contractors that are desperate to make enough sales to get converted to full time. Im already full time.

Maybe they should suck less at their job instead of trying to steal other peoples sales

These giant companies are not for me. Signed up for job alerts already.

Oh and the funny part, the second person today accidentally messaged me, complaining about me to another person. Dork. I got to screenshot that and forward it to my manager who set him up straight.

The problem with big companies is you're competing as an outsider.
sounds likely they just don't plan on showing you respect because you're the newbie

Everyone is a newbie at this company. Its essentially a churn and burn environment and constant revolving door. I get a welcome so and so email every week. This person has only been at the company 3 months more than me. And according to people there thats ancient

So basically if we get an inquiry, up to two people can work with the client. I got to them second and talked to the first sales person (call him A) and we agreed on sharing. Its up to the client to decide what to go with. Another guy (B) also claimed them and when I politely explained we were working with them, B tried to message A and accused him of working closely with me to conspire a group boycott against him. He apparently has shared his clients with A in the past and demanded he return the favor. But he accidentally sent it to me lmao.

The other case, I brought in my own lead and documented I was working with them. Another salesperson reached out to them on linkedin and got them interested in working with her too. Despite the fact that its blatantly against the rules. But now that the client is engaged, there is nothing management can do and she basically just got a slap on the wrist over it and I have to share them with her but I get to remain the only point of contact and go over both product lines and let them choose.

I refuse to work with the kind of company that allows this sort of hostile competitive environment.

Why is there more than one sales person per client?

That makes no sense what so ever!

Its a huge company with a crap ton of salespeople so they have different rules of engagement. The only time 2 salespeople can work with 1 client is if its an incoming lead (they reach out to us and sometimes message multiple departments). It should never happen when its external though, like in the case where I brought in my own lead.

Unnecessarily complicated rules IMO.

1 Sales Person per Client.

If Client wants to swap Sales Person, so be it; but it has to be at Clients request.

Why all this complicated BS rules?

Your client should be yours alone.

Maybe they should be trimming the sales person staff.

Oh I agree. These rules bug the crap out of me. I have to check like 3 different systems before I can clear if Im ok to reach out to a potential lead. Its ridiculous.

I want to go back to mid sized companies. I never had to deal with stuff like that and we were all really collaborative.

Why are there 3 different systems? That sounds like a unnecessarily complex setup that slows down efficiency. Why can't there be 1 system to check out and be done with?

Yeah. I thought I could suck it up because this company looks great on my resume and would open doors for me. But its just not worth the headache.

I know LOL. They added a third one last month and most people havent figured it out yet so its led to so many problems internally. Supposedly this third system was supposed to help us but basically everyone is losing their shit over it.

Who's bright idea was that to add in MORE SYSTEMS?

Consolidate all your systems into 1 and have all the validation info on there.

Depends on the company. I have worked in places where its like that and others where it isnt. I spent 3 years at my last company and never experienced anything like this. But its the kind of company that is about employee retention while this has a revolving door environment. Last company was about employing smart people who focused on building long term relationships with clients while this one is just go go go and they hire a lot of young high energy people and burn them out. They will let go of people fast so sales folk get desperate.

Really? I thought Sales had a ton of remote opportunities and you just had to travel out to the customer? Better yet, video conferencing sales presentations. That's what all those software vendors love to do with me which is preferable.

Thats outside sales. Im inside sales. I dont travel anywhere. There are plenty of remote opportunities for small sized companies but they dont pay competitive or pay structure sucks. The bigger players want you physically present for some reason.

Can you explain the outside vs inside sales?

Also I guess I thought you traveled a lot based on your previous topic about the guy hitting in you in the hotel bar.

I just have to travel to headquarters so I can get face time with people. Most people sit in the office and Im one of the few they allowed to work remote. Most people start off as contractors too, Im one of the few they gave a full time job to up front. So I have to prove myself more.

Outside sales are the people who who travel to get leads. Theyll book meetings or just knock on doors, that kind of thing. Inbound means you get leads via cold calling or social media, as well as leads that come to you on their own.

Wow my friend from my last company just called me to say shes out the door too. When I told her about my situation, she said shed send my resume to two places she knows are looking. One is in town and the other is remote. Both medium sized companies. She knows someone at the local one and shes very happy there and says she loves the culture.

Im really excited.
