She can't throw away hundreds of years of precedence because Boris Johnson is a tool. She basically has to be a rubber stamp on this issue. On most issues quite frankly.

what'd she do?

She's suspending parliament for a few weeks. That's not normally unusual after a new PM takes over so they can formally announce their new agenda, but Brexit foes are claiming this is sabotage by Boris Johnson to prevent them from undoing brexit because it cuts out roughly half of the time they had left to act.

Right, but corbyn was hoping to either get another extension or pass a vote of no confidence which would make him PM by default in the interim.

Parliament is normally suspended - or prorogued - for a short period before a new session begins. It is done by the Queen, on the advice of the prime minister.

Parliamentary sessions normally last a year, but the current one has been going on for more than two years - ever since the June 2017 election.

A month isn't that long, and I wanted to double down on the point by highlighting that session is long past due to be suspended.

That same article pointed out that these suspensions dont usually last a month and that the timing is deliberately obstructionist.

That it does. I'm not denying that the purpose is to limit Corbyn's ability to further sabotage Brexit. He wants another extension or, preferably, a vote of no confidence that would make him interim PM. That makes negotiating with the EU harder if the EU thinks they can hold firm on the current deal (that Parliament has rejected 3 times).

It's just... after 3 failed votes, an open discussion that failed to produce a single plan that parliament could agreed on, and literal YEARS of dragging their feet, I don't see how another extension is going to fix anything, and the only people actively campaigning for one are ultimately just trying to cancel it entirely.

If you support undoing Brexit, that's fine, but at this point they might as well suspend for a month if they're going to go through with it. The only thing that could possibly occur related to Brexit outside of a suspension is an attempt to prevent it or more failed votes.

LMFAO

She is supposed to be a wise, elderly, stately queen. She just reduced herself to a tool of a trump wannabe aged frat boy.

Anyway, maybe this is for the best. The UK will become a little isolated island, scotland may secede, thus marking the end of the UK as we know it, and europe will be able to carry on without an entitled johnny come late who always tried to hold them back.

Trussia (trump/russia) must be delighted.
