Wasps aren't that bad as long as you don't fuck with their nest. I don't think I've ever been attacked by one. There are other species I think some type of hornets that are aggressive however.

Why do wasps sting people?

Unprovoked wasp attacks are very rare, a wasp will normally only use its sting to defend itself or to subdue prey. Many wasps stings are the result of people squashing wasps, either deliberately or by accident. Wasps are attracted to food (especially fish sandwiches) and sweet drinks. People have been stung while they are eating because they have not seen the wasp that is also sharing the food. Or, in the case of drinks, they have not seen a wasp enter their drink container and are stung as they take a drink by a wasp who wants to escape being swallowed. Wasps also sting intruders to defend their nest. When a wasp nest is disturbed, wasps will fly out with a wing beat frequency that stimulates other wasps to fly out the nest and attack. They will attack an intruder within 7 metres of the nest and pay special attention to moving targets.

Hornet's.

Wasp's at least only get ornery when the weather starts to get shitty, and some of them eat things like mosquitoes which is nice.

Hornet's are just douchebags who dive bomb in swarm's if you even get close to their nests. Also, wasp nests tend to be out in the woods with the bees, where as hornet's love to camp out in garden sheds and other places where people tend to be.

I remember a group attacking my stepdad back in the day and causing him to knock off his glasses with repeated stings, so they also cost money lol.

Edit: I just found out the species of "hornet" I'm referring to is actually a wasp. So I guess TC is right.

When ya think about it from the outside, humans are kinda worse.
We build these giant cozy structures like nests and kill insects and rodents for being inside of them. Then as if thats not enough, we shave the vegetation surrounding our nests, with these giant blades of death that probably kill no telling how many bugs and other small animals per year. If any unwanted animal gets too cozy near our house we find some way to get rid of them, either by doing it ourselves or calling in experts. Were a force to be reckoned with. Maybe the wasps are just mean to us for revenge and are plotting an attack
