? Saw this article here, https://www.sfgate.com/living/article/china-san-francisco-beijing-public-toilets-14360253.php, and it says most or all restrooms have no privacy, you gotta squat to take a dump and there's no toilet paper. For a 1 and a half world country I'd expect better. Maybe they got those bidets aka restrooms that splash water up your ass to clean your ass after taking a dump but the article didn't mention that.

From what I hear it's pretty common throughout parts of Asia to be expected to bring your own toilet paper.

They don't even have bidets? And how about the big ass cities like Beijing, Shanghai, etc. with high rises? They should have restrooms with TP and bidets right?

Nah they are a 1 and a half world country. Not quite 1st world cause their 1st world cities is brought down by their other cities that are like 2nd or 3rd world cities so the China average out to 1 and a half world country.

There is no toilet paper but that's because most places in Asia use bum guns which are basically hand held bidets. Toilet paper is fucking gross and anyone who uses it without supplementing with at least wet wipes is a savage.

Squat toilets are in fact the norm. However, you do in fact have privacy. They have stalls like everywhere else.

Tier 1/2 cities are honestly more advanced and nicer than any western city I've ever been to. I live in Ningbo, it reminds me of Calgary but cleaner. The cleanliness of tier 1/2 cities really surprised me. Once you get of the tier 1/2 cities and start going to more rural and central/northern cities then yes, it's definitely not as advanced. But like I said, the coastal cities put most western cities to shame.

Can't say i have ever seen any. I also have only been to Ningbo, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzen and Shanghai so haven't seen a lot of the country.

People can say this all they want, but the meaning of words change. The meaning of "first world" has changed to mean developed country.

It's common in Korea for public bathrooms to not have toilet paper. And usually, multi-stall bathrooms will have at least one or two of the squatters instead of toilets.

The teacher's bathroom at my school usually doesn't have toilet paper either (and two out of the three stalls have squatters). When I have to poop, I walk over to the adjacent building because it always has toilet paper. It's the building where the principal's office is so that's why they make sure to stock it.

In my school (China), all the toilets are squat toilets except for the owners private toilet in his office. Luckily I'm really good at holding it in and have only used a squat toilet once in 15 months. That was at a Walmart where I ended up getting a case of quick onset explosive diarrhea. Feel bad for whoever had to clean the bathrooms because it all didn't make it inside the toilet.

Yes, the vast majority of China is squat toilets. Western types are mostly in tourist heavy spots only from what I've read. TP is bring your own I believe.

Still better than no toilets at all and just squatting in the streets like it is still in India.
