My cat is very odd. When she's drinking water she will put the bowl to her left, extend her left paw out fully, and drink while her paw wiggles about.

Well, I've never had a cat do that, but cats do weird stuff all the time. Mine used to go the same spot on the floor, sniff, and then make what I call "stupid face" every day at roughly the same time. He stopped doing it after a while.

One of my old kitties did this whole routine where she would carefully touch the water with her paw, shake the water off of her paw and then shuffle in place like a bull getting ready to charge. Once in position she would sit and lap up the water while looking really tense. Sometimes she would also pull the bowl toward her instead of just moving closer.

This is weird and cute. People who say that its common, no its not. Ive been around the cats all my life and none of them ever did that

She's a sweetheart but yah, I've never seen a cat do that.
She also likes to sit with her front paws curled, but her back legs splayed out. Imagine a bread loaf position, but spread eagle in the back.

There's a lot of videos of people doing that to their cats for lulz, but that allegedly denotes they have some neurological issue (but not super serious)

Your cat is probably performing something in its instincts where its more paying attention to its senses and body control in case it needs to bolt from a predator as its vulerable (eating, drinking, shitting).

You ever wonder why dogs run away from their shit after they pinch a loaf or they like to stare at you while they do it? They are making sure you have their back to protect them from predators and they want to get away from the danger asap

That makes a lot of sense.
I was using water bowls that were too small and hitting their whiskers. So they would push the bowl around the room and slosh the water out. Then they'd drink off the floor instead.
Weird beings indeed.

Sometimes cat will display this behavior when drinking from an outside water source, they will "tap" at the water surface to break apart anything resting on the surface of the water, like leaves or algae. Also surface water tends to be a lot hotter, especially in the summer, and mixing it around a bit grants access to the water sitting a bit lower to help reduce the temperature.
