My black friends on facebook still talk and joke about Dragonball Z more than the rest of my friends. That's cool and all. I like to reminisce about DBZ as much as the next guy. But why that particular show? Any other anime show has an almost exclusively white/asian fanbase.

Because so many of us watched it that it's pretty much the only anime you can openly talk about without looking like a mega nerd. DBZ is socially acceptable. Naruto/Bleach/Gundham etc. is not.
