They inject lots of commercial breaks into the movies. Not like a made-for-TV version that has a few minorly annoying breaks at logical points... no, Pluto TV injects breaks about every 10 minutes or so, pretty much regardless of where the film is at, and they're all the same repetitive commercials that sometimes even get looped in the same break.

It REALLY interrupts the flow of a film, because one second it's the movie, then it's abruptly commercials for a few minutes that aren't skippable, then it's straight back into the film before you can process that it's back on.

This fucking ruins a movie.

Yeah, that's why I only watch shows. It's not as jarring there.

For example, I'm watching American Beauty right now. Pluto TV shows it as 2 hours 45 minutes. The film is 122 minutes long, which is 2 hours and 2 minutes. That's an extra 43 minutes of commercials, dispersed liberally throughout the film without logical cuts, just a shift from one film scene into the same goddamn Amazon Prime Wardrobe commercial looped twice.

Yeah, I'm out. I'd rather pirate the film.

You're crying over nothing. It's legit free, and is pretty damn good for what it offers. Go watch Netflix or pay for Hulu to continue having ads run as you watch.

intrusive advertising is not a good thing, it just makes me look elsewhere, or to the superior black market

that's pretty much the normal amount of commercials. for every 22 minutes of a show on network tv, you get 8 minutes of commercials.

not placed well is a valid complaint, though. that's jarring. i see similar issues when a broadcast show is rerun on cable, and the different networks take breaks at different points.

I prefer network TV breaks that have more predictable and longer breaks. These are short and distributed more randomly. They show the commercial breaks in the video "timeline" as red sections. So I brought up American Beauty again, and counted... there were 18 breaks total. EIGHTEEN!

Considering the dispersal and the repetitive nature of the commercials, yeah, it's way worse than an edited-for-broadcast version.
