like, it sounds like the dude upstairs was dropping a heavy box over and over, for about 5 minutes. i've already talked to him MULTIPLE times about all the noise he's making, so this time i just hit the ceiling a few times. he continues dropping whatever, so i hit more. he then STOMPS a bunch, so i just hit the ceiling again. he finally stops, but later on as he's stomping down the stairs i hear him talking to someone (i guess on the phone?) saying he should be able to make as much noise since it's HIS apartment

i really just need to find a house or something

Just plan around when he's going to go to sleep, and make a ton of noise then.

Or document it for a month or so, and complain to the owner/manager with the evidence.

Its a universal principle that anyone who lives above you in a rented apartment is going to be bigfoot pretty much.

TC I honestly feel your pain.
I endured almost 5 years of living below a stomping elephant and his wife.

It got so bad that my landlord allowed me to break my lease without any penalties.

Now I live on the top floor in a prewar building and I never have issues like that anymore.

I would recommend that you move asap ifyou have the means to. I didn't so I had to endure it for years till I could.

I cannot express to you how much better my life has become now that I have a peaceful and quiet place to come home to.

I didn't realize that what I was enduring over the years was making me a depressed and very unhappy person.

wonder if i should try to set up something to catch him making noise, but i'm not sure if standard microphone stuff would catch low frequency noises very well

also he has a dog that sometimes just goes apeshit, and it wood floors so i can hear the scratching when it tries to run
