What you lose is surprisingly extreme:

1. Obviously TV mode, but also a viable Tabletop Mode, due to #4 below
2. A significant amount of battery life (with the new Switch revision, at least)
3. Replaceable Joy Cons
4. A large screen (goes from 6.3in to 5.5in, which could be a major problem with games that already have small text, also makes it too small for single-unit multiplayer in Tabletop Mode)

It's basically a worse handheld than the main Switch, which is ironic since it's supposed to be the handheld-centric version.

I'd get that argument if the Switch Lite was somehow a better handheld than the Switch, but the battery life differential is just too extreme

like sure if you have the money a normal switch is better but not everyone is well-off enough for that to be the case for them

also this will sell like crazy in Japan. Half the reason why Smash 4 had a 3DS version is because handhelds are such a big part of the market there

Id sooner buy a switch with a broken screen for $100 and replace the screen myself.

I only use switch for 1-2 hours and I've never used it outside of handheld mode

I'm pretty sure Nintendo designed this unit for parents who wanted a simpler / sturdier (Supposedly) / cheaper unit for parents to hand to their kids.

tbh if you're in the financial situation where you can't afford a $300 gaming system, i dont think the $200 would be the deal breaker, you're better off saving up your money and not living check to check

I meant on the part of retailers and small businesses. Even Gamestop dropped the price of older versions of consoles by a small percentage. I didn't exactly mean new versions.
