What platform? the 3DS version has the most content, the PS2 version still wins out on the presentation front due to the orchestrated soundtrack and better graphical texture quality i'd go with 3DS personally --- https://i.imgtc.com/hB9W4JK.gif You act like I don't know my own way home ... 3DS didn't really add anything I care about. The 2 characters they made playable are almost insignificant to the plot.

DQ VIII is probably the best entry point.
However, DQ XI is definitely newbie friendly, but has infinitely bigger pay off if you've played the games before it. Edit: I strongly suggest playing the original 3 games before XI. --- Number of Mega Cookies given: (::::) 29 *Tips top hat, adjusts monocle, and walks away with a cane.* And yes, that IS Mr. Peanut laying unconscious on the curb ... I do recommend playing 7 close to last. 7 has arguably the biggest skill ceiling of the franchise. There are points you will get super frustrated and want to give up.
As for what to start with, I'd suggest 8. Maybe 9 if you want something a little less involved. 11 is fun, but play it on the switch since that's the superior version. ... Copied to Clipboard!

Ivany2008 posted...There are points you will get super frustrated and want to give up. I respectfully disagree. I'm about halfway through the game when you get your classes and I had to quit due to frustration. It was arguably the most annoying thing I've ever experienced. 7 is my favorite, but it is super grindy. <3 the puzzle piece mechanic, though.

If you're interested in seeing how old school JRPG's develop and are ok with primitive designs and features (compared to modern capabilities), then start with the first entry.
If you're wanting to get a feel for the series and its staple features while having a modern feel, start with 8. --- Reading up on the Bat-Family: https://bit.ly/2Us5RhG ... Copied to Clipboard!
