tipping culture?

Seems like something everyone besides business owners who would have to raise their prices would get on board with. Even then, takeout orders would have to pay those higher prices as well.

Tipping makes people feel like they have some sort of control over the service. In reality the customer is usually getting fucked though.

The idea is that a badass waiter is going to make more in tips than a crappy one, and that poor people shouldn't be dining out anyway.

Incidentally, the likely reality of a tip-less shift is that the crappy waiters are unemployed, and poor people can't afford to dine out anyway.

I'd fire my waiter half the time cause they suck ass

I deliver pizza, but same idea. Tips are what make the job worth doing.

There's no way anyone would want to deliver pizza for minimum wage if tips weren't involved. If it were up to me, the driver would get the delivery charge and tipping would be considered optional, not expected.

This is a benefit of ending obligatory tipping culture, there would still be some people who tip.

in this scenario the boss pays the workers with the customers money anyway. And also if the workers dont make enough tips to cover minimum wage the employer has to make up the difference. So as of now minimum wage is a server's floor. To do away with it would be saying you dont want servers to make more than minimum, i.e. fuck servers.

Don't worry, millenials are going to kill tipping culture by exclusively buying all their food from food trucks, In N Out and Chik Fil A and making sit down service restaurants a thing of the past.

Reminds me of a old waitress at a Dennys I used to frequent who asked why I wasnt paying tips(I did sometimes, and sometimes not actually). And asked me how weather or not waiters made enough money or something along those lines.

I never thought or gave a f*** about any of that s***. I just came in to eat and told her if see had a issue with that say so I I'll stop eating there. Told the manager afterward about the issue who reprimanded her and never eat there again.

All of my friends who've done jobs with tipping involved have been tipped very well. They wouldn't want it to change.

Prices can't be lower. Still need staff, only thing to do would be to kill the food quality, thus killing the restaurant.

Or, you know, just ditch table service.

When I was in South Korea, tipping was extremely frowned upon. They saw it as disrespectful. As if the business didn't pay it's employees properly.

If tipping goes away, they would just need to pay their employees real wages. It's doable without raising prices. Korea isn't any more expensive really.
