I'm on season 3 episode 5 where she has recently been cheating with Ted, so far she is annoying but not enough to consider her one of my most hated characters in fiction.

She's annoying beyond just being the fun police. In the very first episode she's planning Walt a bday party that he doesnt even want to have. She's selfish in a way that doesnt make her fun to watch.

She's often an insufferable bitch at times, even if completely justified a lot of the times. Then there is the Ted stuff. And at the end she turns on Walt who is the hero of the show. Either way I think she adds a good element to the show, unlike Maria(Hank's wife....I can't remember her name), who is an illogical insufferable bitch with no redeeming quality who seems to exist solely to drive people mad. She contributes nothing to the show other than to annoy everyone else. Skylar at least serves the purpose of counter balancing Walt and forcing Walt to remain somewhat grounded which serves the purpose of building him up through the show versus just going off the deep end day 1.

Not to say she doesn't act illogically and screw Walt over, but Walt has it coming really.

Great show, great characters, but it is the Walter White show. We're not meant to get Skylars perspective on anything but in relation to Walt.

EDIT:

I guess she is hated because she grounds Walt and Walt is the hero. It's like Dexter, his sister and his wife grounded him so they catch shit as the characters people hate. The only thing that stops Walt from going full psycho is his wife.

If anything, she lacks control and it shows frustration of it.

If that's how you see it man. It's up for speculation. What I see is her getting frustrated everytime she doesn't get her way. And trying to control her husband so that she can feel comfortable even though it obviously makes him miserable. She knew his life when she got involved. Shes the type of wife that expects the man to completely change as time goes on without actually ever addressing it. Then when it doesn't happen she acts like shes being wronged by the person still being who they always were. Ok, that part might involve some heavier speculation. But she rarely showed concern for Hanks actual happiness. His safety? Yes. But that's not all that's important. Id never say she was a bad person. Just not very self aware. Skylar was definitely more self aware.

To be fair, in the first couple of seasons she was kind of an immasculating presence for Walt and was super passive aggressive. After season 3 she became a much more interesting character.

I'd say maybe in some ways, Skylar was. But Skylar was also far more of a controlling person. Part of her controlling personality is what drove Walt to "break bad," IMO.

I will say I've grown to hate Walt. He is just a pathetic asshole and acted like a child in so many situations.

Was she ever wrong tho? Didn't her ideas always benefit him? Like the car wash. She just knew where her usefulness was and utilized it with authority. That's what my dream woman would do. Id love a chick that knows what's better for me than I do at times. Men got a problem with squandering these types of women's potential because their insecurities of a woman knowing better than them.

If a woman was treating a guy like Walt treated Skyler and was obviously in the dark about half her life than guys would defend the man getting side pussy. Guarenfuckintee it. Most men have this double standard where a woman not being tended to and cheating is a way worse sin than a man not being tended to cheating. You know, given that she had plainly told Walt that she no longer wanted to be married or in a relationship with him (for obviously valid reason by the way) and the only reason why they werent divorced was because he wouldnt go through with the process. He was essentially trying to force her to be in a relationship with him.
