The Switch port. This game is fun as fuck yo

the music is killer and it's all just so goddamn fast

Only thing I dislike is how slow it is to change weapons because you have to scroll through all your weapons at a snail's pace before you get to the weapon you want. But from what I understand that's an issue with the switch port, not the game. with kb/m you can just press the number keys to switch weapons.

overall quite fun. Only about 3 or 4 missions into Shores of Hell

Yeah, it's still a blast. No hotkeys are an issue for consoles, but it's still manageable.

Better late then never. The original Doom will always be one of my favourite games. And it's got some of the best music in the history of video games.

When I played it as a kid, I always used the cheats to get through it. Since it has come out on the Switch, I think this is the first time I am playing through it without cheats and I can really appreciate the game now. Playing it on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty seems like just the right balance. I am around the same point as you TC, a few levels into the Shores of Hell!

Yeah the biggest issue with 32X was that the enemies weren't in 3D. They were always facing you no matter how you turned. Which after seeing a video of the Doom on PC was a major buzzkill to me. But other than that it was still cool to actually get to play it.

There are secret levels

Play the game then play it again and again till you hit 100% kills and secrets on UV. Doom plays surprisingly nice on consoles.

As you may have already researched, each chapter has 1secret level. They are all labeled as level 9 of the chapter. You wont skip any levels because once you complete it in chapter 2, you will move to E2M6.

As a kid it was just mind-blowing. Doom 2 is one of my top 10 games of all time. I just loved the fact that they brought the fight to earth. Gave it even more of a creepier atmosphere to me

I had the games on the PC and was such a fan that I rented the SNES version and still loved playing it. There was just something novel about playing it on my console and the red cart was bad ass
