You didn't think any of this through at all.

One, you are in the wrong, logically speaking, for generalizing.

Two, the people responding are correct, logically speaking, in saying that which you have quoted.

Three, you seem to be making an erroneous assumption that the same opposition is making the claim that since one doesn't do that, none of them do. Based on what you have in quotation marks, that was not the message.

Now if someone did make the argument "Well not all of them do that, therefore, none of them do" would be contradictory and would be a generalization as well.
