For me, it's the shaving scene in the original Cabin Fever. Don't even like the movie, but goddamn if I don't think of that scene every time I think of legs being shaved.

A mainstream one is the Hostel eye scene. Almost felt sick at that.

A basically unheard of movie is called Ghost House and in one scene this girl pops up on a tv with her clown doll and starts crying blood while this nightmarish kids music plays. Sacred the shit out of me when I saw it as a kid

I don't really watch horror movies.

But I remember when I was a kid, my mom and grandma were watching some campy horror stuff on TV. I think it was a series of shorts. One of them had a ventriloquist dummy that came to life and was trying to kill a lady in her house.

At one point she peeks under the door to look for the dummy, but when she looks under, he's already looking back at her. Creeped me out.

Stuck with me in a bad way would be the Martyrs scenes where the guy visits the girl on a daily basis to beat her until she has no fight left. That very last scene of the beatings where she's just laying there limp while he is punching her in the face made me sick. Probably more so than the actual skinning.

Stuck with me in a good/cool way would probably be a tie between the infamous Blob scene where the guy is shown trying to escape while being dissolved in the hospital (or was it a police station?) or the dog case scene in The Thing.

The Hereditary one was pretty crazy, I agree.

In The VVitch when Thomasin is stabbing her mother on the ground outside their cottage, also when Caleb has his possession or whatever while held down on the table.

But I just really love that movie so I felt it needed a mention even though its more of a complete package slow burn film than a film containing shocking, memorable scenes. lol

That freaked me out as a kid. Totally forgot about it until you mentioned it.

For me, the end scene from The Thing which was kind of ruined by the prequel.

Also Silence Of The Lambs where Buffalo Bill stalks Clarece in the basement with night vision goggles. Chills.

The entire ending sequence. The aforementioned scene is far more jarring but the ending has a little bit of everything traumatic just without the heart stopping intense imagery of that scene
