I went in overhyped. Still a good movie but its not one i can sit through a second time.

I havent read the manga but just from the movie, i thought a lot of time has passed in the events of the movie but they felt too squashed in this 2 hour movie. The romance felt forced. And the male protagonist made some stupid decisions.

I would definitely watch a prequel but i wont be watching this a second time.

I see what you mean. James probably wanted it to end at a certain point that would be good for a possible sequel but ended up rushing through a few bits. There was a scene that felt jarring, where she went to see Hugo in his new robot body, and then suddenly it cut to her talking to her "father" about Nova in the same room.
