Like in an RPG where they have to reset the character to base stats so the player can level them up again. I'm playing Guacamelee 2 and they did this by having the main character retire and become fat between the games so now he has to train to relearn his moves and get his health/stamina back up. Any other fun examples of video game logic for this? Or any really dumb ones that you chuckled at?

Dumbest one will always be Metroid: Other M where Samus starts fully powered but can't turn on her upgrades without an explicit order from her commander, even if she's burning to death in a lava room.

Between every Mega Man, for inexplicable reasons. There is a 'good' reason for that. Megaman/X/Zero/etc do not want to fight or use their weapons aside from when they are required to. Kingdom Hearts and GoW always have in story reasons to reset their characters.
