GW2 gets mentioned here often. Works made it hard for me to play. But with no sub cost it's easy to poke in an find a new guild. You could get everyone goin again.

That's what I'm hoping to do and not get it in my head to rush to level 60. Since dungeons and PvPing might be all I'll do, there's really no sense to rush to level 60 for the raids. If anything, the desire to rush will just get my burned out on the sluggishness of some quests and leveling in general.

In like 3 and half hours I got to level 9. >_> took me a while to figure out how to open the journal, I have no idea where anything is, and wowhead was NOT helpful with quest locations.

Heard about this from my FFXIV guild mates last night. I never played WoW before and slightly thought about trying Classic. They said you need an active sub to play... no thanks then. FFXIV is more than enough for me.

But it was real nice seeing everyone bring all friendly and co-operative in general, and seeing active starter zones

On the plus side, the subscription gives to access to both retail and classic. Still, I can agree two MMORPGs at the same time is a bit much. I was playing both World of Warcraft retail and Final Fantasy XIV for a bit but eventually just couldn't keep up with both.

Good to hear. I'd imagine those wanting to come back and actually stay knows questing will be more tedious in general so will want to do jolly co-operation.

Oh yeah for sure. I already have my hands full with FFXIV and trying to spare time for Overwatch and any other games I want to play. I was just kind of hoping WoW Classic was free so at least I could try it or something to see what's so great about it. (Especially since I never had a PC that could run it and now I do.) But I'm totally okay with never trying it either.

I am having fun with it, but with the fun, comes a lot of frustration. I was trying to do a qeust in Silverpine where I had to get bear and spider drops. And there was an elite mob patrolling around and it killed me like 4 or 5 times. >_> It probably took me 90 minutes to do that one quest, just corpse running back to the area over and over, getting my voidwalker, then something ridiculous happens and I die and then I had to go back and get another voidwalker lol

But, I did get a green fire wand drop from one of the bears, and managed to get my wand skill up to about 60 or so!

Starting to get the hang of this and I am enjoying it quite a bit. Getting some really nice greens out in the world, and the ones I can't use or sell to someone else I'm disenchanting to level my enchanting skill. Seems this one is gonna take a while. And I really need to level my tailoring so I can make more bags lol.

Only got to level 6 last night on my druid. Can't wait to get bearform so I'm not meleeing mobs with my staff after going OOM at 30-40%.

My understanding is it's classic emulation forked from 8.2. But it's all the same old vanilla models and textures and everything upscaled to 4k.

Edit: Also they're staggering release of content, especially raids. I think they plan to have everything out in about a year or so?

With how much time you spend leveling up and acquiring gear attunements to the raid zones etc.. Only the most die hard players will be ready to raid within a few weeks.

This game has so much more busy work that you have to do to get ready to raid, farming mats making sure you can actually go into the raid zone making sure your gear is good meaning farming 5 man dungeons for weeks etc... Even when you are ready to play MC you then have to farm that raid zone for months since most bosses back then dropped a few pieces of gear for a 40 man raid.

the first day there was an actual line to kill a quest npc.
everyone grouped into 5 to all get credit, and waited their turn.

The game was more frustrating in vanilla, grouping was encouraged more often since while you could solo some classes are not very good at it and struggle.

Had a 4 hour queue to login to classic, so that wasn't happening. So I decided instead to try retail. So I made another undead warlock to see the differences. It's interesting how classic and retail were very very similar, but noticeably very very different. Like being able to take on more than one mob at a time. Or mobs scaling to your level. Leveling being faster. Quests actually show you where to go lol. But at no point in retail was I encouraged to group up with people, and nobody was saying anything in chat.

Also retail graphically looks really nice. I don't think I'm going to continue with retail though.

Ran RFC and it was a disaster! We wiped twice, I accidentally ninja'd something. somebody got tired of the dungeon and left. We eventually cleared, but golly gee!

Then I went to the barrens and made chuck norris jokes and found mankrik's wife. I'm a real wow player now!

Two wipes? I'm gonna guess the Trogg boss sitting on the dead Tauren/satchel quest and one of the groups of like 6 Orcs that you fight on the way to the last boss.

Just wait until Wailing Caverns, though.

the people who bail after 1-2 wipes in retail are probably gonna give up once they reach gnomeregan tbh.

Oh so in FFXIV, the general rule is use aoe on packs of 3 or more. So when I get my aoes in this, is there a general agreed upon rule like that, or what's the deal? I assume on my warlock I want to dot everything up then aoe right?

not sure about lock aoe, but 3-4 mobs seems about right. just wait a few seconds for the tank to build aggro before you do anything. threat is rough especially at low levels.

Getting close to level 20. I'm finding tailoring is hard to level? But I got my enchanting to 75! \o/ So my next goal is to make myself a greater wand I think. But I need to start making money I think. I only have like 3 gold. >_> I keep hearing contradicting statements. Some say I should do the succubus quest asap, others say I should just wait to 60 to do all my class quests after the voidwalker. I am on a PVP server, but I have seen exactly one human and he was 10 levels higher than me so I just waved at him.

Got level 21, made a greater wand. Tried to do my succubus quest, but there were level 30 alliance all over the place so that wasn't happening.

Level 23, and I got my succubus!
About 2 levels a day seems like a pretty fine pace for me. I'm in no rush to raid lol.

improved flight paths, fast travel accessibility, and having lfm were fucking huge improvements that save so much time

while there are fewer fp's they are still connected. you don't have to land at each one. you don't even have to have each path on the flight
