Because horror movies are completely different these days and mostly cookie cutter. There is very little originality and it's more jump scares compared to the 80s when it was suspended build up and more creative deaths. The scream movies changed the game and now it's all about gore and blood compared to unique ways to die.

How does it feel to be so completely wrong?

Prove me wrong then. There are obviously always exceptions but they are rare and not the average which is what I'm talking about

I liked Suspiria 2018 alot more than the original and the original has been one of my favorite movies for a long time. The remake was just done so damn good. Amazing acting, writing, the music is great and the directing is top notch.

Added to my watch lists, maybe they'll bring it to prime one day.

I fell asleep (it was late... fml I feel old) but that Ants on a Plane was actually way more competent than I expected it to be. The plot actually made sense, they tried to explain everything and it wasn't just "lol ants".

Speaking of "Night of the Creeps", I did really love Creep and Creep 2 with Mark DuPlass.

Thanks for that, added to my list on Netflix. I need a service that just shows you what's available on what service, too -_-. And I know there's a horror specific streaming site but you can't search it without creating an account first it looks like.

Oh I've also been meaning to watch this Russian movie called The Ritual, looks pretty good - something about a woman falling ill and her sister has to perform a ritual and enter her mind to cure her, and there's a lot of dark shit.

The Ritual that's usually suggested is the one on Netflix, haven't heard of the Russian one.

Well first off, you're stating they're mostly cookie cutter when modern horror includes brilliant things like It Follows, Hereditary, You're Next, Autopsy of Jane Doe, Cabin in the Woods, Tucker and Dale vs Evil, The VVitch, etc etc. It also includes horror in New mediums and forms like American Horror Story, Haunting of Hill House, Sunny Family Cult, and Marble Hornets. And even the surface level horror has some great Gems: The Conjuring, Happy Death Day, IT, Insidious, and several others are great popular horror. They don't rely just on jump scares at all, and mostly focus on atmosphere over anything else.

And you claim Scream changed it to this which is laughable. Scream made horror smarter and more meta, but kept it intact with creative deaths and slasher formulas. Saw is what brought out the whole torture porn shtick with extreme violence, which is odd because while Saw was a brilliant thriller, it really wasn't that violent. Most of its infamous scenes were more implied than shown.

Ah I guess it's called III: The Ritual, or just III. Has a sort of Silent Hill vibe going on, at least in the trailer (on YT, I'm afraid to link it because every time I link to something on YT there's nudity or something I oversaw and get modded for it). Doesn't have the best reviews though.

Oh nice! I love youtube horror, there's actually some good stuff on there. I'll check it out!

Check out Crypt TV on YouTube, a surprisingly high quality and high budget horror channel.
