From what the 16 year old kid told me, he try to run a yellow. I dont know if i believe in that story since my dash cam clearly showed me going straight on a green, but i simply showed the evidence to the police and sent it as an attachment to my insurance. Funniest part was when his dad showed up and try to accuse me that it was somehow my fault. On one hand i do kind of feel bad for the kid, he clearly showed he was extremely sorry because my car got the worst end of the stick than his. From far away i can even hear his dad yelling at the kid who had his head down the entire time.

Isn't dashcam footage inadmissable evidence in some states?

The important thing is everyone is ok. Since you had a dash cam you should be good. The kid's dad's ins will go thru the roof.

That was the first thing i said to the kid "you alright? You hurt anywhere?". My friend was being an annoying asshole though telling the kid why he ran a red. I had to tell him to shut up because there is nothing good yelling or saying it to his face about it.

I think this is the only time my dash cam became an actual investment. A lot of my cousins were making fun of me on how i just wasted money on it 4 years ago.

the best part about this, you can go up to your cousins wave your dash camera around and tell them "i told you so". fuckers. typically intersections might have camera footage that proves who'll be in the wrong but i doubt TC would be in this scenario can't trust kids with cars they make bad decisions (can't run yellow lights).

No cameras at this intersection because it was a small street (according to what the policeman said anyway). I already got witnesses and what not just in case if the dad tries to do anything fishy.

I sometimes run yellow lights. But only if I was already entering the intersection when it changed yellow, and I have a full clear view of all lanes of traffic.

The accident report probably already has the 16 year at fault. TC just needs to contact insurance company, obtain copy of report, and show up at kid's traffic court date. The judge will give TC a chance to speak if TC desires. That's how they always go for me.

The kids Insurance Company says that they believe he isn't at fault. If you disagree you're more than welcome to subrogate against them.

Was the kid issued a citation for running a red light? If he was he won't have a leg to stand on.

I barely talked to the kid, i was mostly talking to my insruance and the police officer there. Our insurance will take care most of it. I already gave my testimony, evidence, and the witnesses contact formation to the other kids insurance company. It should be an open and shut case, but i will be willing to fight it otherwise.

Yeah, you're really not supposed to talk to the other party any more than is necessary to get insurance information. Let the insurance companies do the talking.

Where are some posters getting their info, such as that the insurance said the kid was at fault, no, the insurance said the kid wasn't at fault? I don't see that info anywhere in TC's posts.

CA is not a no-fault state, so if the investigation shows that TC was not at fault, TC won't be liable for anything beyond the deductible (and maybe not even that if the insurance company negotiates well).
