Jeez that chapter was stressful. I left that Prat guy alive because he got away during the fight (used a horror spell on him and he ran away). After several failed attempts, I figured it was not worth going through the phantom spiders to get him.

Basilisks were easy as hell... AFTER I died several times and was finally smart enough to use protection from petrification.

Those doppelgngers disguised as Gorion and Elminster almost had me fooled. I could tell something wasnt right.

Im excited for BGII. Ive heard nothing but great things about it and Im only playing this game so I can get the most out of its sequel. Please NO spoilers, warnings or tips for Chapter 7, thanks!

I remember that game being hard. Is it still pretty hard?
I rolled a wizard one time and couldn't beat the two thugs who ambush you in the starting city.

Oh, I wanted to mention that story-wise I feel like all the bosses have been pretty lackluster so far. I have had no satisfaction in fighting any of these dudes because I only met them 3 seconds before fighting them. In a story-heavy RPG I would expect a number of bosses to be people who I gained history with throughout the game so I could look forward to kicking their ass later on. Instead, its just like.... walk into a room, some guy ive never heard of is like Ha! Youll never stop me! aaaaaaannnd dead.

Is this done better in BGII?

Yes and no.

I play on the Core Rules difficulty. I have almost no trouble getting through most areas, including mines and caves. But the last several boss battles have required me to stop for a few minutes and scratch my head to come up with a strategy to win. Still, I don't feel like I've had to do anything too fancy to beat a boss yet. So far I haven't had to reorganize my memorized spells in order to clear a certain area or defeat a particular boss. Except for those two basilisks just now so I could resist petrification.

It might be accurate to say I haven't had to do any grinding. Then again, I've almost always uncovered as much of the map as possible for each location I've been to. So if that's grinding, then I've grinded.

The most frustrating thing to me is getting my equipment organized for each character. This game could use a few QOL features in that regard. I feel like I spend more time managing my inventory than I do adventuring.

Baldurs gate 2 set the standard for ISO rpgs. While I enjoy the first - it really just serves to set up various pieces and people. The second game is about fifty times more epic in scale, and the combat improves greatly due to your higher level and access to abilities that aren't position > auto attack.

Lol yeah. You dont have to remind me how suckballz it was to only have one spell that I could cast one time until I rested through like the first half of the game.

Here go da Chapter 7. Hopefully I'll finish this game tonight.

So what Im finding out is basically Sarevok is basically Nolans Some men just want to watch the world burn Joker.

Anyway, his bitch, Cythandria was a breeze. I hope this chapter is super short and Im nearing the end because Im ready for BGII, dammit!

It is pretty short!

But Sarevok does have very specific reasons for doing what he's doing, not terribly connected to "just want it all to burn" thinking.

O RLY? I quit for the night shortly after entering the sewers because I thought it was about to be another long ass underground place that would take me forever. I'm too drunk to continue now. Perhaps I'll finish in the morning! Don't spoil anything for me, plz!

btw, by "morning" I mean afternoon for you normies. I'm a night shift guy so morning is like late night for me.
