We get a knock on the door but no car in the driveway and my wife foolishly answers anyway. It's an ATT guy who introduces himself to her and I kid you not introduces his bodyguard. I'm in the room over and can't tell if he's joking or not with his partner. Anyway I listen to his spiel about how much money we'll save if we switch and how shit out current network is (it's not) blah blah, my wife says she's happy with our current service and isn't interested but to be nice asked for a pamphlet. They ask if I'm in and she tells them I'm busy because she knows how much solicitors trigger me. Then they say they don't have a price sheet but they'll get her email and send info. She foolishly gives them her email. I'm getting mad but thought hey it's her email if she wants the spam. Then they tell her they'll send her the info and with that an install will be scheduled, detailed in the email. Now I'm getting pissed. She's says hold up I just wanted pricing info is this something I have to decide now? They're like oh no you don't have to decide now, you can choose to cancel the install if you don't like the pricing. We're just trying to get you more speed and channels for less money! Before my wife could get anything else out I march over and pop in the door and let this dude have it. Before he could get his introduction out I tell him that the tactic he just used is bullshit and shady, do NOT schedule an install and do NOT send her an email. Delete it RIGHT now. He says but sir don't you want to save money? I stopped him again before he can get another word out and said get the fuck of my property why would I do business with people who practice sleazy tactics? Delete that email and never step foot here again. No wonder you need a bodyguard then slam the door. I'm still pretty angry over it.

For the record if the other guy wasn't his bodyguard he looked like one, than man was huge.

Ive had it happen to me once.

It was for WoW Internet. It was two women, and they would not take no for an answer.

I was being polite, but kept insisting that we were happy with our provider, and not interested in their service.

Even saying this, they still tried scheduling an install

This is what people do when their employer is on them about this shit. Its like people who work retail and push credit cards. I'd always see my coworkers take advantage of people who couldn't really speak english to get them to open credit cards by telling them it wasn't one and just telling them to give them info. Or people who legit would be like "oh you weren't approved,,,,Maybe you put something in wrong, try again it won't affect your credit"...

its incredibly shady and the people who do it are shitty, but the companies forcing these quotas on their employees are shittier.

Or he wasn't from AT&T and its was just a scam (especially if he had a Bodyguard).

I work for AT&T and it's pretty disgusting how higher ups want us to unrealistically push DirecTV and Internet.

I've had a manager write me up for not demoing DirecTV to an elderly lady who was trying to get her dead husbands account switched into her name.

It's ruthless, but the pay and benefits are good so I have to be that "pushy salesman".
