He's an underrated actor too. A bunch of idiots who have never seen more than a few parts of Rocky when flipping through tv channels came up with the idea that they're mindless action movies and he's just an action star who can't act. The best parts of the series was everything outside of the fights with the exception being the new Rocky blitzing Clubber after taunting him, that was epic and the only time he looked like more than just a punching bag outlasting his opponent.

Naw, 2 and Balboa are basically rehashes of 1.
4 is basically a rehash of 3.
Creed is basically a rehash of 5.
Didn't even bother with Creed 2.
There was really no reason to go beyond 1. Only reason Stallone did was because none of his non-Rocky movies at the time were that successful. So yeah, milking the cash cow.

1 is a struggling amateur suddenly getting his shot at the bigtime, 2 is dealing with sudden fame and what happens when your 15 minutes are up, 3 is when you reach the top and lose the hunger, 4 is what happens when you cant give it up, 5 is adjusting to retired/family life, 6 is the reality of time passing and what matters to you in the end.

2 is basically 1, except Rocky beats Apollo in the end. Balboa basically 1, except now Rocky is an old man, and it's actually ridiculous to see such an old dude fight a young champion boxer.
4 is basically a rehash of 3. New boxer causes the death of Rocky's friend. Rocky has to avenge his friend and wins in the end. And to top that off, 4 is so over the top and ridiculous that it's definitely the worst movie here.
5 didn't particularly feel like a rehash of anything, but that's negated by how terrible the movie was.
Creed is basically a rehash of 5. Rocky trains a young boxer in Philly. Only real difference is that this boxer doesn't turn on him in the end.
Didn't even bother with Creed 2.

Pretty much every first movie is a self contained story because they dont know how successful itll be.

The point is he made the sequels matter because they focused on new aspects of being a boxer, it wasnt just the latest adventure of Rocky. The actual fights mattered the least.

Nah, if you plan to make, like, a trilogy from the start, and the first movie ends with something like a cliffhanger that would pave the way for a sequel, there's artistic merit to a sequel.

Rocky sucks.

Those are pretty much always adapted from a book series where theres already multiple parts to it planned in advance.

Its never an original work that they just assume will be successful enough for a sequel.
