I only knew that he was created by Steve Ditko (and Stan Lee) and that he was in X-Men TAS for 1 second.

Before the movie, I thought he was like a Marvel Dr. Fate.

After the movie, yeah, he's pretty much like a Marvel Dr. Fate.

I've seen this movie.

I don't remember anything that happened in it other than Mads Mikkelsen has eyeliner, Eggs Benedict Cucumberpatch has a car accident, there's wifi and I think a bald person dies.

I knew he existed. He was in a two-part episode of the Spider-Man cartoon show.

I didn't care about the character. I still don't. Magic typically doesn't appeal to me. Overpowered characters don't appeal to me. He's both, so he has a really, really uphill battle in trying to catch my attention. Not that the MCU cares one way or another about my absence.

I don't remember him being in the X-Men TAS.

I had heard about him, but my first big experience was with the Spider-Man TAS with him, Venom and Carnage, where Venom ended up sacrificing himself to save everyone, which hit me pretty fucking hard lol.

He had a problem with Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, but it cleared up thanks to a topical creme.

...

So I'm not entirely sure where I first heard of him, but I figured it was before Ultimate MvC3. I might have picked up his name in a cast list of Ultimate Alliance.

Anyway, I started reading up on him when he was in LEGO Marvel Superheroes. Didn't do much more than surface-level research though.

I felt kind of the same way but those couple of scenes between the car wreck and the monastery blew my mind. One of the best things in cinema ever.

Shame the rest of the film was generic af.

It was during the Dark Phoenix saga, they showed several Marvel heroes for about a second each:

Big fan. I had/read a lot of Dr. Strange comics in the 70's and then when that was cancelled I read the Defenders in the 80's and '90's. So-called Supernatural comics were big back in the day. Even Blade was one. Then things became more space oriented and the supernatural stuff got phased out.

If you like Dr. Strange, look up his buddy Brother Voodoo - kind of a black Dr. Strange (gross oversimplification).

Next to nothing about the character. I knew he started in a line called Strange Tales, and was influential for Marvel's cosmic aspect, and considered kind of "trippy" in its initial run.

I knew of his role in the original Infinity War comic, a little bit of Dormammu, Mephisto, and Living Tribunal.

Now I still know as much because I don't really care about the character.
