Sort of. There's a character in it that does make an appearance.
I'm trying to explain why it might be helpful to know who it is without spoiling anything.

But (never saw apocalypse so not sure how relevant this is) the character is able to
sense when other mutants are around, he is called Caliban
Other than that nope, just know who Xavier and Logan is and that it takes place in the future, like 2020ish I think?

You don't have to watch any X-Men movie prior to another X-Men movie after X3

i like to think that the Caliban in Logan is the same as the one in Apocalypse but in the end it's wishful thinking. The movies are two completely different story lines.

No, in Apocalypse, Logan just escapes his confinement from the end of DoFP with Jean's help.

but do we know this for a fact? Like I know that Logan is on the same timeline as the very first X-Men movie because Xavier mentions something about the battle at the Statue of Liberty. But I don't think Apocalypse had any bearing on Logan outside of Caliban.

No it is not.

Logan follows X3 with the Patrick Stewart Xavier. The new timeline is the First Class, old part of DofP, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix.

The original is X1, 2, 3, Origins, The Wolverine, and Logan.

It's probably worth watching up through Days of Future Past to get the most out of Logan, but at that point you're good to go.

Yes, James Mangold, Logan's director, confirmed it's in the post-DoFP timeline.

The Statue of Liberty thing just happened again

No, it doesn't. Did you even watch DoFP? X3's future is DoFP, which was changed

Logan is essentially independent from all other X-men films. Ill spoiler mark this just in case, but whats marked in spoilers is explained very early in the movie. Logan takes place several years into the future, and there was a virus that wiped out almost all mutants. This plot point is never addressed, foreshadowed, or mentioned in any way in Apocalypse or any previous movie.

It's never addressed because no movie except for the 3 minutes at the end of DoFP and Deadpool 1/2 take place after 2004 when the issue started because of the consumption of modified corn syrup. Regardless, it's been confirmed it's after the scene in DoFP, so I'm not sure why people are still trying to deny it and make different justifications.
