I would give it another chance. It is my favorite of his honestly.

I love all the character interaction so much. The slow build in trust between Sam Jackson and Walter Goggins characters at the end is so great. The very ending where he reads the letter and that song starts to play is perfect.

Tarantino originally thought of it as a novel that would be a sequel to Django, but eventually he changed Django into a new black character so you wouldn't be sure about his history. The whole time you are supposed to be wondering whether any one character is lying or not, and to what degree they may or may not be an evil murderer.
