As a guy with depression, low self esteem, and no confidence, I can say it's quite easy to end up an older virgin. Toss in a bunch of failed attempts, and failing to establish a social life, it seriously just happens as a matter of course.

You have to work on your confidence. I have depression too, and I'm always trying to take my confidence higher.

This. People tend to think everyone is like them. I don't get how people have trouble with simple math like fractions. I don't get how people take forever to read things. I also don't get how people fail tests when the teacher would have literally told us the answer during lectures. And also I don't get how people can just go up and talk to other people and have normal conversations.

Whenever there are people around I don't know at a party or something my whole body freezes up and I can't move. I got a job at Subway once, but when I showed up for "training" the person working there was a really cute girls with tattoos so I sat down at one of the tables and couldn't move at all, not even my arms. After about a half an hour I worked up just enough courage to walk out of the store and walk home.

People just don't understand things unless they are a part of their exact experiences.

Very easy to not get laid in college. I had no interest in girls in high school and when I started to get that interest in college I had no confidence to make those kinds of moves. And I wasn't attractive enough for woman to come to me. And I would go to parties and drink. Social anxiety didn't help either.

That said, I managed to get a few girls numbers and go on some dates.

And then I got into my first relationship and got laid 2 years after graduating. I gained confidence after graduating by getting my license, starting a career, and getting my own place.

For most it's like a nervousness that your contribution is gonna have negative effect or you'll goof up and get negative attention yourself. You can't live in the moment because you're too busy questioning every action you want to take. So you just end up quiet most the time. I use to deal with it heavily.

Most people deal with a form of it but it doesn't control their life. Being diagnosed with anxiety is when it's controlling your entire life

I don't get what's so hard to understand. The primary reason is that they don't ever actually try. And those that do are probably just very socially inept.

Also even for non-incels it's not necessarily that easy.
