Just saw this on yahoo, and looks like the media is really pushing the "dodgeball" story, when in actuality, they were playing "tips". You can even briefly see the report in that video confirming it.

Well Im glad it wasnt dodgeball.

When I was a the sports director at a YMCA day camp, I dispensed with the rule about if someone gets hit in the head the thrower is out. They were those foam nerf balls so it wasnt like anyone could actually get hurt. Its a headshot. Youre done.

I also had the rules where you could drag the people who were out to the sidelines and they could eventually get back in. There were also barricades and various kinds of cover. And I was blasting techno.

Kids stand in a circle and toss a basketball to each other while jumping. The goal is to jump, catch, then toss it to someone else before landing

It always seemed like less of a game and more of a drill. Work on those basketball skills.

Funny how the media keeps calling it dodgeball, while also giving a description of the actual game as one that doesn't have the kids aiming to hit each...
