and by that I mean shes a fun love interest for Tom hollands Spiderman. I dont think she plays a good Mary Jane or that she would have worked with the other renditions of Spiderman or that shes accurate to the character etc

But this spiderman is more like an incel than the others,

it works that his love interest is an awkward loser weirdo like him. And she sells it really well.

I was with you until you used the word incel.

And femcel.

Like, what traits do they have in common with incels? They don't hate the opposite sex, or want to murder them, or disdain them and blame them for not wanting to be with them.

I literally dont see any similarity.

Same with Zendaya, she is just cute and likes to mess with people a little.

yea, the way she's written wouldn't make for a good Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy, but she's a good "original" character, IMO, and I probably like hey more than any of Spidey's other love interests on the big screen

I also liked Spider-Gwen in Spider-Verse, but she's just a friend at this point

I'm using it in the meme sense. Like people on the internet call anyone awkward with the opposite sex or virgins "incels" these days.

Anyway, I'm not sure you have to hate women/hate men to be an incel/femcel

or maybe that's just a foreveralone?

MCU MJ isn't Mary Jane. She's not meant to be a portrayal or a rendition of that character, her adopting her initials as a nickname is just a wink to the audience that she's Peter's new love interest while not tying her character to anything else.

Irregardless, for all intensive purposes, I could care less.

Foreveralone is more accurate.

An incel brings forth a specific stigma because they're blaming women or society for being a virgin.

Either way I thought Raimi Spider-Man was a lot more awkward around women.

I would argue it was just that all the characters are weirdos in the Raimi universe.

Other characters react to MCU spiderman like he is a geek, a complete weirdo loser.

But Toby Maguire had all the ladies all over him. MJ, Gwen, his neighbor etc.
