That game is Fire Emblem Three Houses. Really it's a fantastic installment in the Fire Emblem franchise. A unique strategy game that reinvents the nature of normal turn-based strategy games. Fantastic character development, alongside incredible music pieces.

Please, take a chance if you've never played a Fire Emblem game before! You won't regret it.

I'm an FE fan for sure, but with each game the series has just been losing that flair for me in terms of level design and now I'm super busy and have a huge backlog... so, I probably won't be getting this one for a while. =/

I guess the whole rock paper scissors schtick is kind of unique to grid based strategy games. Pretty common in real time strategy though.

I guess it's also unique in that the only skills you get are passive, most other srpgs use skills as a mean of attack in addition to passives.

Three houses doesn't have the weapon triangle (sorta).

There are also weapon-based skills characters can get. They eat up more durability when used.

Hmm so they are actual skills now and not just uses of the weapon? And no triangle? Well then it isn't unique whatsoever.

That's FE and Nintendo in general.

Every iteration of a series always shakes up the mechanics again (and sometimes they backpedal).

The weapon triangle isn't really there, but once you reach a certain weapon mastery level, you unlock the "breaker" skill. But even then, you don't have to equip it.

I'm okay with most FE changes, but speed always bothered me. One game it's 4 or higher speed to double, another game it's 5 speed. And now we're back to 4 (effective) speed again.

More like unique to Fire Emblem games. I've played quite a few grid-based strategy games and FE is the only one that used such a system.
