While I do love Batman TAS as much as anyone else, Spider-Man TAS felt more impactful.

Batman TAS was much more artistic and probably better, but I have fond memories of watching Spiderman TAS after school.

Batman TAS is too mainstream.

Watch Spiderman TAS instead; you'll stand out more.

Batman has a lot of dull/okay moments. When people talk about how Batman: TAS is good they only referring to about episodes out of the whole series.

Spider-Man's writing and action is dated. Batman: TAS was actually pretty dull upon re-watching.

Spider-Man also broke the no punching rule a few times. Batman was just more clever in that they put a brief flash on the screen to mask the punches. They don't show the punches connect, but object permanence fills in the blanks.

Unfortunately, Spider-Man called attention to the censorship rather than drawing attention away from it. Whereas Batman primarily featured human characters battling hand to hand, Spider-Man was an acrobatic superhero armed with kicks and web-shooters battling an onslaught of monsters and supervillains with super powers and projectiles. Dr. Octopus used his mechanical claws. The Lizard used his tail. Green Goblin and Hobgoblin threw bombs and blades.

I'd have never noticed the absence of punching were it not for the fact that the bad guys would ball up their hand into a fist anytime they had Spider-Man cornered. And they'd be distracted before they'd get a chance to throw that punch each time. Like, jeez. Don't call attention to what you're not allowed to do. Focus on what you can do and try and mask that censorship.

Batman is more serious and there's hardly any continuation. Each episode is different.

Spider-Man has more continuation. It's more wacky and a lot of the Marvel characters make an appearance.

Pick your poison.

Or that the cops were armed with laser guns.

Or that they decided to do a vampire plotline where the vampire couldn't drink with his mouth or drink blood so he absorbs plasma through hand-suckers.

No, they did. The finale has the multi-verse spider-man stuff and ends with one of the greatest goddamn Stan Lee cameo moments ever.

Edit: However, come to think of it, if you were really stuck on the Mary Jane thread, that was the only one that didn't get wrapped up.

Batman. Spider-Man was still good, though.

Both were before the immense decline of comics/MCU facefucking everything and can still be enjoyed.

Both are good but Batman I think edges it out because some of the Spiderman animation is absolutely horrendous at times and is actually distracting to watch.

Honestly, I don't get why this one's a complaint.

The series had a future technology vibe that was consistent throughout the show's run. It made sense that the cops fired lasers and dressed like 22nd century riot squads because they inhabited a world of hover chairs and secret airbases hidden in tall buildings. To me, it's kind of like complaining about the lack of bullets in Star Trek.

Maybe it gets people because, despite the technological advances, the show was still set in modern times? Like the lasers in G.I. Joe?

did batman have amazing characters?

as a kid i probably couldn't accept the nuance of acting and since spidey felt more like a cartoon to me, i preferred it vastly.

it was far more colorful and there were robots, vampires/vampire hunters(my very first introduction to blade), an "evil" spider-man clone, spidey himself turning into a spider etc.
