I was shocked when the movie opened with Cubone crying over his recently dead mother and the guy trying to catch it just then.

As soon as I saw the giant balloons I knew they were about to go full Batman (1989).

And Pikachu being his dad made sense. What doesn't is the whole... Body suddenly appearing despite Mewtwo taking his body away because... Continuity issues. :l

I mean they quite clearly showed him being white numerous times, and hiding his face was only done because literally everyone would recognize Ryan.

They went out of the way to avoid showing the father's face. That was how I knew he was Ryan Reynolds.
