I've only had an Xbox 360 since last summer and it's the most recent system I've played, but the following are from my experience after playing 60 or so games since last August. As such, I haven't really had my finger on the pulse the last decade+ so some of these might not be unpopular. I also only really play campaigns.

- Inversion was better than Gears of War 1 and had some neato visuals

- I am about done with Far Cry 4 and so far enjoy it more than 3, which I loved. The hostage missions, assassinations, and fortresses are all great additions that improve the experience over 3. I also think Pagan (so far) is up there with Vaas.

- Bioshock 2 was just as good as 1. Infinite also wasn't bad at all and had such cool surreal vibe to it

- COD Ghosts had a badass campaign

- Crysis 3 was just as good if not better than 2

- Dead Island got boring very quickly and kinda sucked

- LA Noire was boring as shit

- The Medal of Honor reboot wasn't bad at all and Warfighter was decent enough

- Splinter Cell Conviction was still a pretty bad ass game, although that and Blacklist were the only two SCs Ive played

- Hitman Absolution was awesome and very fun

dark souls challenge come from bad game design. every game can be dark souls if they had a horribke check point system.

I have about 90 games for the system, most either FPS, TPS, or survival horror and generally prefer shorter (10 or fewer hours) games (although I dug GTA5, Far Cry, RDR) but have been looking at borderlands and Mass Effect. Still on the fence

I don't really get the hate. So far I played Chris' campaign which is supposedly the worse one but it was fine. Just a more interesting GoW clone that didn't have the gameplay down as tight. I didn't have the "not muh RE" hatred for it even as a big RE fan and I think it is best consumed by treating each campaign like its own game, played separate from the rest.

Lightning Returns, purely from a gameplay perspective, is one of the best games ever made.

Bloodborne Dark Souls 3 > Demon's Souls > Dark Souls > Dark Souls 2

the ranking of the first and last games are a popular-ish opinion, but not the placing of the games in the middle.

Metal Gear Solid 4 > Metal Gear Solid 3 Metal Gear Solid 2 > Metal Gear Solid V > Metal Gear Solid

MGSV would be a lot higher if it was complete, though.

Enjoy the other ones, they're much better. Jake's is my personal favorite.

Tetris has the best storyline a video game has ever had.

-I didn't find Final Fantasy Tactics to be that great. The gameplay wasn't as engaging as Fire Emblem for me, the story was pretty hard to follow, the difficulty was kind of all over the place IIRC and having to grind in a strategy games sucks, and the soundtrack was pretty forgettable to me.

-The only Shantae game that is legit good is Pirate's Curse.

-Metroid Other M isn't bad and isn't even a bottom 3 game in the franchise. As messy and disappointing as the story is, even the hate for that can be exaggerated I think.

-Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild are about on the same level to me, that being they are both "good" but not "great."

-The Wii U was a good gaming console

-Bayonetta 1 > Bayonetta 2

This is unpopular because it's just false. Like 2+2=5

Looking at my game collection now and see a relatively unplayed Dead Rising.

It is one of the worst games I own, and I own Shell Shock blood lines.

Also, while Kane and Lynch: Dead Men was just "okay" Kane and Lynch: Dog Days was a vast improvement and had an awesome style.

I had my controller batteries die as I was fighting a Big Sister in Bioshock 2 and the game didn't automatically pause like normal. I have a case of batteries right under the TV so I frantically discharged the old batteries and tries to reload the new ones as the Big Sister kicked the shit out of me. Got the controller back on with maybe one hit left before I died and was able to heal. Shit made my ass sweat

MGSV is the best by far, and the story makes the most sense of any MGS story.

People only look back on the first few so fondly because it was baby's first meta narrative. Genetics was a major theme in MGS1, but they got so much of it wrong.

IIRC it was ahead of its time and paved the way for over the shoulder action games. It was also a vast improvement over the RE games that cane before it
