I had a stomach ulcer removed. They cut part of my stomach out. The worse part however was I caught a bug so the week stay in hospital turned into 3 as I had the runs. -_-

Probably a few days. Maybe a week. Can't say I've ever counted. I've got nothing against vegetarian dishes, but I tend to find that dishes without meat feel like they're missing something, so when my girlfriend and I plan meals for the week, if one of those two meals is a vegetarian dish, I'll usually make sure the other has meat in it.

What is the longest you have gone on a vegetarian diet?

I'm pretty sure my diet during that time would not qualify as vegetarian, since I literally consumed nothing but water, Carnation Instant Breakfast, and ice cream floats.

It's not even necessarily that it feels like it's missing a main course. I've had eggplant parmesan with and without ground beef in the sauce, and the latter felt much more like a complete meal despite the meat not being anywhere close to the focal point of the dish. Even if it's just added as a garnish, I find meat improves most dinner meals.

You have to physically adjust to not eating meat, I found that "lacking" feeling initially. It ended after about a week. Wasn't balancing my meals as I should. Lots of non-veg people that cook vegetarian meals miss the balancing act.

Should have had at least 2 weeks.

I made it 3 so far at the most but now I totally stopped trying since I'm moving, and once I move, all those new places to eat, yeah sorry, I can't give up meat right now.

But I didn't make a month so I couldn't put that down.

New chineese food places = NO WAY i'm giving up meat. I love good chineese and it's been so long. Also there is a good mongolian bbq place (though I eat lamb there not beef at least).

I may switch to just eating lamb, cause I like it so much, it's more expensive, but.........I don't think they are treated as badly (please don't tell me if they are) and they are not causing the problems with the environment that cows do.

They are causing the same problems as beef, they are ruminants (I'll spare you the extent of mistreatment; no animal wants to be killed for food). Lamb is not an environmentally friendly choice

How do you know this? Can you communicate with animals?

Maybe animals are enlightened and out of all possible reasons to be killed, they would be very happy to be killed for food because their death would mean that another animal(s), as well as plants, would be fed and thus kept alive.

That response implies that they were reacting that way because they knew they were being killed for food, as opposed to just being, you know, hurt really badly.

Slaughterhouse footage exists... Or empathy

Try to hurt an animal when it's not confined and see how it reacts

(Don't actually do this)

Animals fight to escape and avoid being killed on the slaughter lines all the time, they are unfortunately in a situation where they cannot escape as hard as they try

Blaqthourne posted...

They don't want to "just be hurt really badly" either

Believe it or not animals make it pretty clear they don't like being treated that way. Whether it's for food or just because you are being cruel, no creature wants to be on the receiving end of violence no matter what the ends are (slaughter is an act of violence)

They're also smarter than you think. They can smell the blood, fear, and death of others around them. They can see them being hurt and killed. They spend those last moments in abject terror, aware of and unable to avoid that fate
