Sweet relish I only use on hotdogs. Dill relish is great for sandwiches, burgers, tuna/chicken salad or fry sauce.

Im a Dill Relish man, and I put it in Tuna Salad, Chicken Salad, on Burgers, on Sandwiches, Dags, Brats, Polish Sausage, in Homemade Tarter Sauce, in Homemade Thousand Island, etc.

It's just the first recipe I found on google.

But I would say yes, it's 100% necessary. You know damn well if they didn't say that, there'd be people slamming raw egg into a bowl and wondering why it isn't deviling.
