I applied to a place a few days ago, the time to apply closed on the 8th. Would it hurt me to write them and ask about my status ?

Only do so if you've had the opportunity to interview or even speak with someone over the phone. Doing this before either of those will just come across as someone being too desperate and annoying.

I'd say wait at least two weeks before following up. Keep in mind that resume/application review takes a while, and it's usually not a priority, so it could be at least a week before they get to them, discuss them, make the first cuts, then contact those they want to interview.

Two weeks is a good window to give them to review and make yourself known without being too pushy.

I wasn't trying to insult you cjsdowg. I legitimately thought you were in the fast food business

I would say four days is too early for an application. They probably didn't even start sifting until maybe yesterday, let alone started contacting people.

Thanks all , and sorry I assumed it was in insult glitter and not mistake. I to be honest I am having a hard one. Current job sucks, life sucks, and the only people calling me back are people in the Corrections department . I don't want to get a job in a prison anymore.

I would call them instead of emailing. And I would wait at least a few more days.

My sympathies, man. I've known that feeling. You just need to keep applying and never get hung up on just one job you're waiting on. Don't stop applying until you have a formal offer in hand.

Make sure you are selling your skills from your current job well. Show them how the skills you learned in your current job will help them in the job they are hiring for.
